Since 1998, Veteran Cricket in India has flourished, thanks to the late Chetan Chauhan, a distinguished international cricketer and former Indian opening batsman. Chauhan established the Board for Veterans Cricket in India (BVCI) and led it as President, creating opportunities for cricketers over 40 to compete in formats like day matches, 50 overs, and T20.
The BVCI is divided into five zones—North, West, East, South, and Central—enabling it to draw talent from former international players to state and district-level cricketers. This structure allows those aged 40 and above to participate in the Veteran Cricket Championships.
